Installation:
For nogibs09sp.zip : Use winzip to "extract" to c:\ (this will only work if you installed Quake III Arena into the default directory, C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena ).
For nogibs09.zip
: Unzip the .zip file into your Quake 3 directory. ( ex: C:\Program
Files\Quake III Arena ) Winzip should work fine, just open the .zip
file and "Extract" to "c:\Program Files\Quake III Arena" (without using
quotes).
Usage:
For nogibs09sp.zip: Use the "No Gibs Q3A" shortcut that appears on the desktop.
For nogibs09.zip:
You can either go into your Quake 3 directory and run the nogibs.bat by
clicking on it, OR (if you are using the MS-DOS prompt,) you can either
type "quake3 +set fs_game nogibs +set sv_pure 0" or type "nogibs" (without
the quotes).
Description: No Gibs removes the very idea that you can kill player's with your guns. But once a player gets hit a lot, he/she becomes weaker and can be knocked around by the weapons much more easily, inevitably making it easier for attackers to knock a player into the void or some other death trap. Once a player falls into a trap (like the void), he/she will lose one frag, and his/her last attacker will gain two frags. Some of the weapons (namely the Shotgun and Plasma Gun) have been upgraded to make them more formidable.
Respawn rates:
Armor: 20 seconds
Ammo: 25 seconds
Health: 30 seconds
Holdable items: 40 seconds
Megahealth: 60 seconds
Power ups: 90 seconds
Quad Damage only
does 2x damage now.
Armor quality is
dependent on armor quantity, and ranges from from 50% to 83%. The
armor icon will reflect how effective your armor is.
Your damage counter
has replaced your health counter. The more damage you take, the higher
your damage rating will climb. Once you reach about 300 damage, it
becomes very easy for your opponents to deal the final blow. Make
sure you get health when you can use it, and be sure to use your "teleporter"
once you begin falling into the void (or whatever).
Just like how the
colors blue, red, and yellow designate 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, green and
magenta are used to label 4th and 5th place. If fall below second
place, your actual rank color, not red, will be shown on the right of your
HUD.
That is it.
