MOTEL 666 - Mission for Nocturne
 By Idiot (Webmaster from TRI)
--------------------------------

What this is not:
- Serious
- Deep
- Profound
- Amazing
- Well acted
- Intended for anyone under the age of 18

What this is:

Motel 666 is provided as an example of how to build various elements in a mission in Nocturne with the Nocturne Editor. The script is commented throughout so as to give you a better idea of how to do things like switches, triggers, events, and all those wonderful things that make the editor so confusing. The best way to learn is by example, and the main missions are just to buck-enormous to sift through. This is also provided so you can have a set to work with for making custom missions. Feel free to modify, change, rearrange, delete, destroy, distribute, or do anything you want to or with this mission and any of the files included with it.

A run down on the mission:

Room 1 - Throw switch, camera changes, goes to letterbox, next door opens, cows created.

Room 2 - Key

Room 3 - Door for key. Hero trigger, creates bat-creature. Creates key on death of bat-creature.

Room 4 - Light switch creates bugs that kill you. Another door switch in corner.

Room 5 - Laser trigger on the wall. Aim guns at the picture of the pretty flower to open the next door.

Room 6 - Room full of dynamite.

Room 7 - Hero trigger outside of window, cuts to cinematic. If you shoot the glass out and blow up the skeleton with dynamite, the door opens. It makes sense, I promise.

Room 8 - Dialogue with a ghoul-puppy. Kill him to open next door.

Room 9 - Dialogue with NPC, scripted movements for NPC using way points & stuff.

Room 10 - More scripted movements as Icepick eats it opening the next door for you.

Room 11 - Close up of someone's naked ex-wife, I mean a clue for the switch puzzle. Shows how to do a simple "flip the right switches" puzzle.

Room 12 - The grand finale ... not for young audiences (But what in Nocturne is????)

There are 12 more empty rooms (upstairs) that I have left unused. If this is a huge smashing success with our fans and a baznigagillion people email telling me to give more examples, I'll probably make an updated motel with more examples upstairs.

To run this pod:

1. Put motel.pod into your Nocturne directory.

2. Run makeini.bat

3. Edit the new file in your Nocturne directory called POD.INI

4. Count the number of POD files in the POD.INI and put the number up at the top.

Example, if your POD.INI looks like:

		STARTUP.POD
		ENGLISH.POD
		motel.POD

You would edit it to look like:

		3
		STARTUP.POD
		ENGLISH.POD
		motel.POD

Because there are 3 pod files listed in the POD.INI, you would put a 3 at the top.

5. Start Nocturne. When you go to start a new level, all of the pods will be listed as levels. Choose Motel.

6. If the dialog cracks and pops, make sure under your sound options in Nocturne that you have your sound quality at 44100hz.

7. After playing the Motel, to make Nocturne work like it did before (so you can play all of the normal acts) just delete the POD.INI file from your Nocturne directory.

Files:

ReadMeDammit.txt - this (duh)
motel.pod - the pod file with all the fun stuff in it
motel.S3D - the blank set for your personal use and enjoyment
makeini.bat - the program that will make you an .ini file (if you don't have one)
A shameless self-promotion - (See below)
