Bio Menace Turbo Shuttle demonstration for the July 1992 beta (Feb 2025 release)
================================================================================

This is a demonstration Bio Menace level made in January 2025, taking advantage
of an otherwise unused Turbo Shuttle actor implemented in the July 1992 beta.
The presence of the shuttle was discovered while going through
reconstructed Bio Menace sources, as prepared by K1n9_Duk3.

In fact, a more limited form of the shuttle had already
been found by me back in 2011. This form may also be
used in custom levels made for the released game's
unmodified BMENACE3.EXE, albeit Snake Logan cannot use it.

You might find other bits (probably less significant than the shuttle)
in the included level which had no use at all, or eventually
got used in another episode or two.

The directory OLDREV has an earlier revision sent to K1n9_Duk3.

In-game usage instructions and caveats
--------------------------------------

- Generally speaking, you won't be able to leave the shuttle as long
as you don't go through a Turbo Shuttle station. As you're approaching
such a station (or even earlier), try moving left or right.
- The shuttle was eventually unused in the released game.
You may experience clipping bugs as you're trying to enter a shuttle.
Additionally, if you start a new game while previously riding a shuttle,
you might find Snake Logan spawning at the wrong location.
- The demonstration level is the sole one, short of the high scores level,
plus a modification of the latter added so the game won't crash upon
completing the demonstration level.
- Level names are hardcoded in BHAZARD1.EXE, so expect no change here.

Suggestions for usage and implementation improvements (may require code changes)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Try improving the collision code. For instance, make the shuttle not
push Snake at all, while entering the shuttle only if approaching it from above.
- The kind of floor tiling used at entrances to Turbo Shuttle stations
was chosen due to the shuttles not hiding behind nearby tiles in general.
The included demonstration level makes exceptions here for the shuttle closest
to the level exit, so players and potential mappers may see for themselves.

How to load the level
---------------------

Make a copy of the Bio Menace July 1992 beta. Afterwards, replace its
MAPHEAD.BH1 and MAPTEMP.BH1 files with the ones from this directory.
Finally, start the modified beta as usual.
