February 23, 1998 ================================================================ Title : Rubicon Filenames : rubicon.zip: Pak0.pak contains rubicon.bsp, start.bsp, eagle.bsp, etc. Author : john fitzgibbons Email Address : johnfitz@u.washington.edu Homepage : http://weber.u.washington.edu/~johnfitz/ Description : 3-level, single-player, quake 1 pak. my newest(and last) quake 1 release. The first level is a skill setting level. Rubicon's a base level, featuring my new textures. They are all sort of industrial and corroded. It was tough trying to make base bad guys difficult, i ended up just using a lot of them, combined with few health and ammo boxes. This time i wised up and used qED. It's a very nice editor, i might stick with it for quake2... Also contains a secret level, "eagle." this is a conversion of the first level of an old favorite, i was true to the floorplan exactly but used the architectural style E1M4, "the grissly grotto." hopefully you'll enjoy it. note: this map has no difficulty settings. You get to it by finding a secret in the start level which reveals both the nightmare skill pipe and the entrance to eagle. Additional Credits to : the guys at id General WarT' (aka Carl Glave) for custents the thred/qworkshop mailing list, especially beta testers: crash, noel weer, jim lowell, speed, shawn somers, root beer, & mr. e SPQ level heaven, for the fun and the high standards Crash and Talon's Strike, ditto. Tiffany, my girlfriend of just over a year jim lowell, who is the reason i made all of these original textures. And for the jump-lift. ================================================================ * Play Information * 1. extract zip into a folder called "rubicon" under the quake dir, like c:\quake\rubicon\ 2. start quake with the -game rubicon switch at the MS Dos prompt. 3. select "new game" 4. let the insanity begin! You wander the desolate world, comrades nowhere to be seen. But all of the slipgates you find seem to lead to castle after castle, still on Quake. Finally, you learn of a remote mountain base that holds the Long-Range Mass Transfer Beam, your only hope to escape Quake and rejoin the forces in their new campaign on Stroggos. But beware, for trying to stop you will be a whole slew of berzerkers, gladiators, tanks, gunners...oh, wait, no, it's just enforcers, grunts, and dogs. Have fun marine. * Other Info * get the texture wad from my page. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels.
