Quake2 Weapons Mod (DLL file included) 26 January 1998 ================================================================ Title : Quake2 Stinger Missile Mod v0.1 (sting) Author : Matthew Nuckolls Email Address : mnuck@umr.edu Description : Adds a homing missile with some extra personality. The homing missile (Stinger style) lives on the same key as your regular Rocket Launcher, so just press '7' twice. There are several things about this mod that differentiate it from other so called 'homing missile' mods. 1. Delayed engine ignition: Guided missiles are heavier than simple rockets, so a larger engine is needed, as well as a longer burn. To keep from burning the face off of the guy holding the launch tube, compressed air "tosses" the rocket some distance away before the engine ignites. Note that in this version the engine ignites as soon as the rocket detects itself "falling", so while the direct shot is possible, you'll probably burn your face off. Superelevate your tube (that means point it somewhat upwards) before pulling the trigger. 2. Proximity detonation: You don't need a direct hit. If the missile senses that it has missed its target (usually having passed just over the target's head) it will self-destruct, causing splash damage and most likely killing its target despite the miss. 3. Mass simulation: As the missile burns off more of its fuel it gets lighter. As it gets lighter, turns become tighter. This isn't really that noticeable in this version, I need to playtest more and play with some constants.
