Name of Mod : Quake 2 MidiMod Author : Danny "Dirus" Valenzuela File Name : midimod.zip Version : .3r - OPEN QUAKE VERIFIED - http://www.openquake.com Date : January 15, 1998 E-mail : dirus@azstarnet.com Web Site : http://www.azstarnet.com/~dirus/ Thanks to : all the great people who made Quake 2 Brandon Reinhart for the initial concept and myself (because no one else is going to) TYPE OF MOD ----------- DLL / API : Yes, 2 (Quake 2 version 3.09+) Music : Yes SoundFX : No MDL : No Maps : No Graphics : No MOD DESRIPTION -------------- This mod allows users to play MIDI files (.mid) while in Quake2. This only works in single player games unless you are on a server that is using the Q2MidiMod. FORMAT INFORMATION ------------------ This mod was compiled using Visual C++ v5.0. Compiled for use with Quake 2 (patch v3.09 or later). INSTALLATION ------------ Unzip this file with subdirectories in your Quake2 dir. MidiMod is the recommended directory. So for example, if your Quake2 directory is c:\quake2\ you will unzip to the c:\quake2\MidiMod\ subdirectory. Then copy your standard shortcut for running Quake2 into a new one and then add: +set game MidiMod to the command line. .3r now support quick midi play (read about it below), but in order to do this you must put your MIDI file (.mid) into a sub directory of either baseq2\midi\ OR [mod's directory]\midi So using the same directories as in the example above, you could put your MIDI files in either: c:\quake2\MidiMod\midi or : c:\quake2\baseq2\midi OTHER INFORMATION ----------------- To use midi commands, when you've started a game in Quake2, access the console with the ~ (tilde) key. You can use these commands: - midi "filename" The "filename" is played when you use the command "playmidi". The filename is also stored/saved when you quit, so you don't have to reset it every time you play Quake 2. If you have a midi in a quick midi directory (see INSTALLATION) then all you have to type is "midi [nameofmidi]" where nameofmidi would be something like "e1m1". You can also use the old protocol (if that's the right word) and type "midi [\directory\midiFile]" With out the []'s. - playmidi Plays the midi file indicated by the command above. - stopmidi Stops the midi file being played. Stopped midis cannot be resumed. - pausemidi Pauses the midi file being played. Use resumemidi to resume. - resumemidi Resumes a paused midi. Use pausemidi to pause the midi.
