1/13/97 ================================================================ Title : Dark Forest Author : Reichert Email Address : spalmer@widomaker.com Description : Dark, ominous forest Beta Testing : Tsuba, Wendigo, and Dew ================================================================ * NOTE This is the first release to cdrom.com. Don't know why I haven't uploaded it earlier ... just never got around to it. :) * Play Information Single Player : Yes Cooperative : sure Deathmatch : Yes (CTF mainly) Difficulty Settings : No New Sounds : No New Graphics : Yes Demos Replaced : None Source Included : No * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : WorldCraft (various builds), Quest for .map error fixing. Known Bugs : may be some clipping problems on the pier Build time : Qbsp - 16 minutes Vis (level 4) - 13 hours Light (extra) - 20 minutes Brushes : 1403 * Notes * This map is not easy, but it's not impossible. Learn the item and monster layout, and collect the items accordingly. You will more than likely have to restart several times (unless you have mad skillz) so stick with it. I beat it in 6 min. 47 sec. with ammo to spare. * Deathmatch and CTF notes * Full Capture the Flag 3 support was added to Dark Forest. Requires 3wave v. 3.5 server. REGULAR DM: In normal deathmatch play, you'll get many warnings in the console. These can be safely ignored as they relate to CTF only. Sorry about this slight nuisance. Please note that this map was not designed with DM in mind, so it's not that great for that purpose. * Special Thanks To * - All of #quakeed for their excellent support and technical knowledge. - Tom Grandgent (Woofer) for qbsp256c, without which my map would never have compiled. - Brian Hess (Wendigo) for all of the excellent new textures * Running Dark Forest * put darkfst.bsp in your quake\id1\maps dir quake +map darkfst (in DOS) Dark Forest requires more than 8 megs of ram ... be sure to allocate AT LEAST 10 megabytes to Quake if you use Windows 95. "Quake -winmem 10 +map darkfst" should do the trick. darkfst.bsp may only be distributed provided all text files remain intact.
