Installation:
For dead07bsp.zip
: Use winzip to "extract" to c:\ (this will only work if you installed
Quake III Arena into the default directory, C:\Program Files\Quake III
Arena ).
For dead07b.zip :
Unzip the .zip file into your Quake 3 directory. ( ex: C:\Program
Files\Quake III Arena ) Winzip should work fine, just open the .zip
file and "Extract" to "c:\Program Files\Quake III Arena" (without using
quotes).
Usage:
For dead07bsp.zip:
Use the "Dead Quake" shortcut that appears on the desktop.
For dead07b.zip:
You can either go into your Quake 3 directory and run the cbq.bat by clicking
on it, OR (if you are using the MS-DOS prompt,) you can either type "quake3
+set fs_game cbq +set sv_pure 0" or type "cbq" (without the quotes).
Description:
Dead Quake is centered
around the concept of elimination play. Each player starts with a
certain number of points (equal to the fraglimit, or 20 if no fraglimit
is set) and tries to reduce every opponents score to zero. There
are various changes designed to counter various potential abuses that would
otherwise ruin the gameplay.
An important note:
If you do not join
within the first minute of play, you will forced to spectate and wait until
the next match before you play. In the near future, we will create
a "practice window" to allow everybody who wants to play to join in time.
Machinegun ammo is
unlimited; all ammo for it has been removed.
The Railgun and
its ammo have been removed (no more cheap sniper kills; critical to support
new scoring).
Shotgun damage: 120
Grenade Launcher
fire rate: once per 0.6 seconds
Grenade Launcher
and Rocket Launcher "self" splash damage: 80%
A Small health is
worth 10.
Shards are worth
10.
Ammo respawns in
30.
Holdables respawn
in 40.
Megahealths respawn
in 65.
Power-ups respawn
in 85.
BFG gives 25 ammo
and does half damage.
Lightning gun give

Armor quality is
dependant on armor quantity, and ranges from from 50% to 83%.
The armor icon will
reflect how effective your armor is.
When the game declares your rank, it will use green and magenta to designate 4th and 5th place respectively.
Scoring:
Frag: 2 point bonus
Death: 3 point penalty
Suicide: 4 point
penalty
When your score falls to zero, you are removed from play.
The color on your HUD and on your highlighted score with reflect your score like so:
Red: 1 - 6 points
Yellow: 7 - 12 points
Green: 13 - 18 points
Blue: 19 - 24 points
Black: 25 or more
points
The rank icon
on your HUD will also reflect your exact rank for rank better than 6th
place.
